Ann Larson is the author of Cleanup on Aisle Five: Essential Work, Poverty Wages, and the View from Behind the Supermarket Register. An activist focused on economic justice, she is also the co-author of Can’t Pay Won’t Pay: The Case for Economic Disobedience and Debt Abolition, cofounder of the Debt Collective, and a Fellow with the Economic Hardship Reporting Project.

Cleanup on Aisle Five shares Larson’s story working in a non-union supermarket during the pandemic. She discusses the challenges facing grocery workers, from low wages to understaffing, and the industry forces behind them.
