Essential Workers for Democracy is a rank-and-file reform movement of, by, and for UFCW members.

The direction of EW4D is guided by rank and file members across the UFCW. The International Organizing Committee (IOC) is our volunteer-based leadership body of EW4D members. The IOC meets quarterly on Zoom. To learn more about the IOC, contact us.

EW4D members are supported by our organizing staff, who travel to meet with UFCW members, hold workshops, and support reform organizing efforts.

Essential Workers for Democracy is 501c(3) non-profit organization. All donations are tax-deductible.

We are dedicated to building a stronger, more transparent, and member-driven labor movement for all. We provide organizing training, resources and support open to all 1.1 million UFCW members and allies.

Our movement is powered by the generous donations of workers like you. To donate to EW4D, click here. To become a dues-paying EW4D member, click here. We have also been fortunate to gain the support of progressive, pro-labor foundations, such as the Social Justice & Solidarity Fund. EW4D has never and will never solicit or accept any funds from any employer-related or anti-labor sources. The 501c(3) non-profit arm of EW4D is led by a Board of Directors.
