Worker Power

Worker Power

Do you feel stranded as a worker?

Does your schedule conflict with your life?

Are your wages just not cutting it?

Well, you're not alone. For years, workers have expressed these frustrations but lacked adequate power for positive change. It's time to make sure grocery workers connect, share stories and experiences, build a support network, and, ideally, decide together what you want to do about it.

"We can make our union stronger, more transparent, more accountable" - Erica, Fry's, union member
"My grocery's union could strike and win if we members had a bigger say." - Isaac, Fry's, union member
My union's members should be winning big raises, like at other unions." - Sharon, Safeway, union member

At the end of the day, unions should represent WORKERS, not the will of corporate interests.

We need more unions that aren't afraid to fight for us and that are led by rank-and-file members.

If any of this resonates with you, reach out, we have fellow workers waiting.

Who we are

Essential Workers for Democracy is a space for workers across the nation to gather and mobilize for union reform so that unions represent and center WORKERS. We want to ensure that people like you have a fighting chance to live a happy life as free from financial burdens and workplace wrongs as possible. That's the whole point of unions. But not all unions do what they're supposed to. It's time we coalesce together to make sure that rank-and-file members have the opportunity to SEE in real time, in real life more wins, and experience the might of a worker-run union.

Together, we can win BIG.

Worker Power is built on 4 pillars

Union Democracy:

Workers controlling their own unions

Commitment to Organizing:

Actually using resources for organizing non-union workers.

Coordinated Bargaining:

Meeting giant corporations with coordinated power together.

Strike Readiness:

Providing robust strike pay, and no obstacles to striking.
