Over 60,000 Grocery Workers Reach Tentative Agreement in Colorado and Southern California

Over 60,000 grocery store workers have reached tentative agreements with Kroger and Albertsons this week, after months of organizing.

More than 45,000 members in Southern California in UFCW Locals 770, 324, 1167, 1428, 1442, 135, and 8-GS reached a tentative agreement for both Kroger (Ralphs) and Albertons-owned stores (Safeway/Vons, Pavilions) on July 2, 2025. 

Nearly 20,000 members in Colorado UFCW Local 7 reached tentative agreements with Safeway (Albertsons) and King Soopers (Kroger) after two-week strikes at both companies this year. The Safeway tentative agreement was reached on July 5, ending the rolling “stand-up” strike that saw nearly 40 stores across Colorado on strike this summer. The King Soopers tentative agreement was reached July 3. 

Details of the tentative agreements have not been announced yet, but members can expect to hear more information in the coming days. 

Informational webinars will be held by UFCW Local 770 to discuss contract details on Monday, July 7 and Tuesday, July 8. Members will vote from July 7 through July 9. Contract details and voting times in Colorado have yet to be announced.
