The UFCW International Executive Board appointed a new president on May 13th, 2025, with no input from rank and file members. The International could have opened this process up to members, but they chose not to — so, we did it ourselves. Watch the recording of our Candidate Forum.

The Candidate Forum is an opportunity for rank and file UFCW members to ask questions and get to know the candidates for the next President of the UFCW International. It’s also an opportunity for Presidential candidates to try to earn the trust of members, and an example of what democratic elections could look like if members had the right to vote.

While the UFCW International Executive Board has the power to make a number of reforms to the appointment process, they have repeatedly chosen not to. These reforms could include:

Host open candidate forums and town halls
Hold a national straw poll that the Executive Board can uphold
Settle EW4D’s lawsuit against the UFCW International to fix our broken delegate system
