What is the Executive Board?
The UFCW International Executive Board is made up of the International President, International Secretary-Treasurer, three International Executive Vice Presidents, and 50 International Vice Presidents, who are usually the presidents of local unions.
Although the Executive Board is meant to be elected at Conventions, in practice, the Executive Board is appointed by other members of the Executive Board when there are vacancies.
The Executive Board meets four times a year — twice in person, and twice online. The UFCW Constitution describes the Executive Board as “ the highest authority of the International Union” in between Conventions, which occur every five years (the maximum amount of time allowed by law). For their participation on the Executive Board, members are compensated $20,000 annually.
