Disney Workers Win $6 Raises By Bargaining Together

14,000 California Disney workers across UFCW Local 324, BCTGM Local 83, SEIU-USWW, and Teamsters Local 495 ratified a 3-year contract on July 29, 2024. The contract includes $6.10 in wage increases and a $24/hour starting pay — a 31% raise! 

How did they do it? By bargaining together. 

Instead of bargaining four separate contracts with a few thousand workers each, Disney workers stood together and bargained one big contract for all 14,000 of them. When workers stick together, they show the company that they will shut it down if they don’t get what they deserve. 

“This victory is a direct result of us showcasing our power at the bargaining table and in the parks,” said Disney Workers Rising, the bargaining committee. “Every meeting we attended, rally we participated in, petition we signed, and button we wore forced Disney to recognize our power and enabled us to reach this historic agreement. The solidarity and record participation we achieved in this fight means we are that much stronger for our next contract campaign. And that campaign starts now.” 

Every union member can learn an important lesson from the Disney contract: when we stand united, we win.
