California CVS Workers Authorize a Strike

Thousands of workers across several UFCW locals in California have voted to authorize a strike at CVS. 

CVS workers have been working under an expired contract for three months, while the company refuses to bargain in good faith and give members the contract they deserve. Meanwhile, CVS has committed unfair labor practices, surveilling and retaliating against workers for organizing. 

CVS workers aren’t on strike just yet. Contract bargaining will resume on October 16, 2024. 

Key bargaining issues include wages and healthcare; many CVS workers report overpaying for subpar health insurance — that is, if they can afford the health insurance at all. 

Workers can gain more leverage through bargaining big, uniting workers across local unions to take on companies like CVS together. Locals 5, 135, 324, 648, 770, 1167, 1428, and 1442 have come together to bargain big, bringing the power of 7,000 CVS workers united against the boss.
