Rank & File Bargaining Exchange Program Brings Solidarity, New Ideas
Thirteen rank and file grocery bargaining committee members from UFCW Locals 7, 770, and 3000 participated in the first-ever Rank & File Bargaining Exchange Program this month. The Program brought together bargaining committee members from Colo., Calif., and Wash. to exchange ideas by visiting each other’s bargaining tables.
Members attended bargaining sessions with Safeway (Albertsons) in Local 7 in Denver, Colo., and both Kroger and Albertsons in Local 3000 in Seattle, Wash. Members learned new strategies and tactics at the bargaining table to bring home to their own locals.
Over 100,000 members are bargaining new grocery contracts with Kroger and Albertsons this year. While the company throws the same tired tricks at members across the country, we need more member power than ever to fight back and win the contracts members deserve. Through solidarity and coordinated bargaining, we can win big contracts against these big corporations.
